Ancient Hands-On Healing Technique
Wisdom for the 21st Century What is Reiki? Reiki is a complete holistic (whole body) healing system. It encourages connection with our individual energy sources and also connects us to the Universal Source. Quite literally, everything in the Universe is made up and connected by energy. Reiki is a natural adjunct to traditional as well as all other treatment modalities for pain management, stress reduction and the stimulation of the body's immune system. The Japanese word, Reiki means "universal life force energy". It is a powerful, yet gentle, method of healing through opening, clearing and balancing of one's energy system. What is Reiki used for? Reiki is good for just about everything! During a Reiki treatment, the energy may be correcting pain but it also seeks the original source of the illness; therefore, it heals more than just the physical body. Reiki treatments can reduce the negative side effects of traditional drug and radiation therapies and promotes the effectiveness of treatments. The healing of emotional traumas can be accelerated with Reiki. Anything benefited by improved internal energy flow, can be improved through the use of Reiki. Universal life force energy and Reiki are non-invasive, without ever physically entering or manipulating the patient's body. So, Reiki can be safely added to any medical regimen without changing the course of treatment. There are no drug interactions or negative side effects. Stress management and Reiki go hand in hand. It is so soothes and relaxes the mind, body and spirit. A relaxed body heals faster. It is a process of continual growth. Seek to develop and express the qualities of love, compassion, wisdom, justice, cooperation, humility, persistence, kindness, courage, strength, and abundance. Reiki energy is all of these and more. Who can benefit from a Reiki Session? Adults, children and animals all benefit from Reiki. Each of us actually uses a self-healing Reiki principal when we experience pain or discomfort. When you have a toothache, backache or any kind of physical pain, the first thing you do, is touch that area. When a child is hurt, the first thing they look for is some kind of touch from someone they love and trust. Animals often lick their wounds, bringing warmth and energy to the source of their pain. A Reiki healing session is therapeutic for all those same reasons. Healing sessions are done quietly, with soft healing music in the background. A Reiki practitioner can direct the energy by using either "hands on" contact or by placing the hands slightly above the body. The hands can be still or they can move freely in any direction. This session usually lasts about an hour and will make you feel refreshed, serene and whole again. It is a process of continual growth. Disclaimer Reiki can be used entirely on it's own, but it is not meant as a substitute for medical, or psychological, diagnosis and treatment. In fact it can readily compliment any form of therapy. Reiki practitioners do not diagnose conditions, nor do they perform medical treatment, prescribe substances, or interfere with the treatment of a licensed medical professional, unless they have received training in such a licensed professional practice that supports this. (These professional skills are not part of a Reiki training program). Reiki should not compete with medical doctors and their treatments. Reiki can be used together with any other form of medical, natural or alternative therapy in order to compliment it. Note: It is recommended you see a licensed physician or mental health care professional for any physical or psychological ailment you may have. |
Words of Wisdom Butterfly Winds According to the old adage, if a butterfly flaps its wings in Japan, there is a hurricane in New York. In other words all events are inextricably interconnected – an idea long upheld by Eastern mystics and supported by discoveries in quantum physics. Make a decision to remind yourself of the importance of the energy that you send out into the world; everything you do has repercussions on everything else. Then act accordingly. |
